Nonlinear Analysis of Pure Torsion Property for Prestressed Concrete Composite Box Girders with Corrugated Steel Webs

Abstract

Based on the rotating-angle softened-truss model of reinforced concrete, a nonlinear analysis model for pure torsion property of prestressed concrete composite box girders with corrugated steel webs was developed. In the model, the mechanical characteristics of such girders were taken into account and a series of equations were derived from equilibrium, compatibility and constitutive laws of materials. An efficient algorithm was proposed to solve these simultaneous equations. Through analyzing several specimens available in the literature, it shows that the model can not only predict the limited torsional bearing capacity but also provide effective way of analyzing the entire load-deformation history analysis for beam after concrete flange crack.
