Study of Full Vehicle Road-friendliness Based on Semi-active Adaptive Suspension System

Abstract

In order to improve road-friendliness and ride comfort of the vehicle, the full vehicle semi-active suspension system with adaptive fuzzy control which took the magneto rheological (MR) damper as control object was designed. Based on the test and theoretical analysis, the full vehicle semi-active suspension model and its state equation on the basis of MR damper were built and the adaptive fuzzy control method by the model was studied. B-class and C-class road spectrums were used as the input of full vehicle model. Impact coefficient and dynamic load stress factor were taken as the road-friendliness evaluating indicators. Then, the control system of fuzzy controller based on 2 adaptive modules was built by MATLAB/Simulink. The relative speed and acceleration of the car body and axle were adopted as the input for fuzzy controller. The simulation results show that compared with the passive suspension, the impact coefficients of the semi-active suspension with the fuzzy control in B-class and C-class road spectrums and different speeds are decreased by 30% approximately, and the dynamic load stress factors are decreased by 40%, meanwhile, the road-friendliness and ride comfort of the vehicle are improved.
