Influencing Factors and Optimization of Deformation Joint Set in Gongbei Tunnel Open Excavation Section

Abstract

In order to solve the problem of influence factors and spacing optimization in arrangement of deformation joint in open excavation of tunnel structure, based on the Gongbei Tunnel engineering, open excavation tunnel was selected to carry out. Using numerical simulation methods, 3D load-structure model of tunnel construction joint was established to investigate the influencing mechanisms of geological factor, temperature factor and variation of structure, and further to investigate the spacing optimization for deformation joints. The results show that arrangements of deformation joints can solve the non-uniform deformation of tunnel and optimize the stress state of structure, while the waterproof difficulty of structure was increased. The main geological factor influencing the deformation joint setting is the different grades of the surrounding rock in the structure; setting deformation joint is necessary for considering the influence of temperature; considering the influences of temperature difference on deformation joint setting, the joints should be arranged when the temperature difference between inside and outside the structure is large. The setting distance of deformation joint in open excavation section 4 of Gongbei Tunnel is 100 m, a total of 56 deformation joints are set in originally designed open excavation section which becomes 36 after calculating and optimizing, reducing about 35.7%. The optimum segment covers a length of 529 m, accounting for 43.2% of the entire sea segment.
